QAFE is the name of our new framework. But how did we come up with this name? Actually there were several names before we hit on QAFE.

We started it out as “Project Genesis” (the beginning of something), but if you Google on Genesis you get 46 million hits.To be slightly more unique in Google, we explored some other names, like:

  • SiliQon (referring Silicon Valley)
  • loco (low cohesion)
  • cortex
  • connectum
  • aloha (a funny one)
  • “ONE” (one whole thing…)/ Q-One
  • QIS (Q information Strategy)
  • QROSS (cross connection/network)
  • Collateral
  • QWave (from backend to frontend and v.v.)
  • Fast TraQ
  • Qollage (of system components)
  • SQOOP
  • Union
  • RiaBiSQ – Rich Internet Application Backend In SOA by Qualogy
  • Solaria – SOA Layer and Rich Internet Applications (this name is already taken)

The requirement was that it should be short, simple and easy to remember. A reference to our sponsor, Qualogy, was wishful.

So we started thinking, even though these were nice already. Then we came up with in fact what we are building: A framework for Enterprise Applications. It became Qualogy’s Application Framework for Enterprises (of course the cup of coffee/cafe that is associated with Java is not a coincidence).

Any good?
