So far, we have seen some sample applications. Let’s take a closer look at one of the tiers : The Presentation Tier. If we check the XSD’s (see previous post) we see that the presentation tier (one of the child elements of the application mapping) has a the following structure.

The PresentationTier consists of “view”, “styles” and “events”. We’ll focus on the “view” for now.

The view is the part where you define the windows and global (reusable) components (see post on menus and toolbars). As one can see, there can be multiple items of each Type (denoted by [0..*]). In case of window that means that you can createapplications with more than one window. If the application would become too large, check this post for solving this problem.

With auto-completion in your development tool it can be very easy to create the applications. Check this movie for that.

Hopefully the structure of the Presentation tier is a little bit clearer now. Next time, we’ll focus on the other elements of the presentation tier.
